Job Purpose & Responsibilities
This is a permanent, full-time position with the Economic Development, Strategy and Communications department.

Reporting to the Economic Development, Strategy, and Communications Manager, the Economic Development Advisor will:
- Collaborate with eligible local businesses and eligible workers to promote and sustain the Rural Renewal Stream of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP).
- Manage the Rural Renewal Stream by reviewing and processing applications.
- Establish short-term and long-term economic development strategies.
- Work with government agencies and private sector organizations to build a healthy and sustainable community.
- Formulate policies and manage programs to stimulate and promote projects, business investment, tourism, and programming.

Qualifications & Competencies
- A bachelor’s degree in Economic Development, Business Management, Public Administration, Commerce, Marketing, or related field.
- 5 years’ experience in economic development.
- Thorough understanding of program research, development, and implementation techniques and agencies and programs related to economic development.
- Ability to identify, interpret, and apply policy and relevant legislation.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills for a broad range of audiences.
- The ability to analyze and conduct research.
- Must be able to express ideas effectively, have strong problem-solving skills, and consensus building skills.
- An affinity for customer services and supporting others.
- Highly proficient in computer programs, organizational tools, critical thinking, decision making, and project management.
- Exceptional attention to detail, high level of tact, discretion, and confidentiality.
