Reports To: Director of FCSS
Job Purpose:
The Community Youth Outreach Worker will be responsible for providing support to Indigenous youth within Cold Lake First Nations and the Northeast Alberta Area. This role focuses on assisting at-risk youth by implementing projects aimed at addressing issues such as health, bullying, crime, and drugs. The Worker will collaborate with various stakeholders including social workers, teachers, probation officers, and the police to design and organize programs. Emphasis will be placed on addressing the seven interconnected aspects of wellbeing: physical, mental, social, emotional, intellectual, vocational, and environmental health.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and implement projects targeting at-risk Indigenous youth to address issues such as health, bullying, crime, homelessness and substance abuse.

Collaborate with stakeholders including social workers, teachers, probation officers, and law enforcement agencies to coordinate support services for youth.

Work closely with the Cold Lake First Nations Mobile Wellness Initiative and various departments including Social Services, Mental Health, Housing, Education, and Employment & Training to address the diverse needs of Indigenous youth.

Facilitate access to detox and rehabilitation programs for youth struggling with alcohol and drug issues.

Provide support for physical healthcare needs through coordination with the mobile wellness initiative.

Assist youth in accessing social supports such as housing options, rent assistance, and financial assistance programs.

Offer intellectual and vocational support to help youth re-enter school, training, or employment programs.

Address environmental factors affecting youth wellbeing through collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

Develop action plans with youth to promote self-sufficiency and access to accommodations or housing.

Collect statistics and prepare reports on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis to measure the effectiveness of outreach efforts and achievement of goals.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Diploma in Social Work.

understanding of the social, cultural, and environmental factors influencing Indigenous youth.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with youth and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Ability to design and implement effective outreach programs tailored to the needs of at-risk youth.

Knowledge of available support services and resources for addressing issues such as substance abuse, mental health, and housing.

Experience in developing and implementing action plans to support individual goals and objectives.

Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting to evaluate program outcomes and measure progress towards goals.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

Monday to Thursday 8:30am – 4:30pm, Friday 8:30am – 2:00pm. Working hours can vary and/or flexible depending on type of assignment or work plan task.

Work is performed indoors and involves sitting for long periods of time.

Verbal communications are conducted face to face, via email and on the telephone.

A computer keyboard is used to enter and retrieve data and requires continuous or repetitive arm-hand movements. The ability to lift a maximum of 35lbs is required.
