Cree Language and Culture Instructor/ FNMI Liaison Worker

Required for Glen Avon School

A 1.0 FTE Cree Language and Culture Instructor/FNMI Liaison Worker is required for Glen Avon School , commencing immediately .

Glen Avon School is a K-Gr 9 school located in St. Paul, Alberta with approximately 365 students.

The instructional portion of the assignment will include Cree for Grades 4-9. The successful candidate will also be responsible for promoting the Cree culture within our school and community and filling the role of liaison between the school and our families.

A LL CANDIDATES WILL :

  • understand and communicate effectively in the oral and written Cree language.
  • use traditional Cree ways of knowing to create educational resources for learners that teach the Cree language and culture.
  • be enthusiastic and student centered.
  • be collaborative and committed to building relationships with students, parents and staff.
  • have a commitment and desire to learn in order to:
  • have a strong curriculum knowledge.
  • understand and correctly use formative/summative assessment.
  • practice effective differentiated learning strategies to ensure learning.
  • use technology to enhance learning and engage learners.
