Reports To: Acting Manager of Education
Type of Position: Temporary Fulltime (until September 2025, with a possible extension)
Job Purpose:
To ensure Cold Lake First Nations members receive educational support and guidance throughout their education process.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Administer PSSSP and UCEP programs in line with ISC requirements for CLFNs students.

Maintain and enforce program policies, forms, procedures, and funding guidelines for the education department; recommend changes to the Director.

Maintain accurate filing systems for K-12 and post-secondary departments.

Track post-secondary and K-12 expenses, reimbursements, graduation dates, and students’ program progress.

Distribute resources on scholarships, bursaries, and opportunities via internal mail and/or social media.

Partner with educational entities (e.g., Alberta Education, ISC, Provincial Schools, Confederacy of Treaty Six, Post-Secondary Institutions) when appropriate.

Monitor student progress and provide input for decision-making.

Advocate for students’ academic needs and challenges.

Inform post-secondary student applicants about PSSSP guidelines, limits, and procedures.

Respond to educational inquiries via phone and email.

Collaborate with the Communications department for community outreach and marketing.

Review all education department reimbursement programs. Provide current educational materials, resources, and applications to CLFNS members.

Attend meetings as required.

Build external relations with schools and organizations.

Revise forms and documents for the education department under the Director’s guidance.

Plan and prepare for graduation ceremonies.

Review applications to ensure programs meet students’ needs.

Research and provide advice on educational matters.

Prepare and submit budgets for the department under the Director’s supervision.

Assist the CLFNS Liaison in providing educational support, programs, and services for CLFNS students (e.g., reimbursement program, graduation grant).

Complete data entry and maintain current and archived files via TEAMS and storage systems.

Collaborate with the Education Program Director to review, code, and prepare budget/expenditure and financial reports for submission to the Director/Chief Operating Officer. Analyze funding utilization to guide program activities and operations.

Prepare ISC reports, monthly reports, annual reports, and departmental updates as required.

Create individualized career paths in cooperation with CLFNS students.

Advocate for students’ access to training, education, funding programs, and resources.

Assist with marketing efforts to increase enrollment at the University of Blue Quills.

Review budgets and code financial documents.

Fulfill all reporting requirements.

Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
-
Relevant post-secondary education in business administration, education, Indigenous studies, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience in the public sector.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated teamwork, judgement, diplomacy, tact and decision-making abilities.

Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, TEAMS, and email.)

Knowledge and understanding of the aspirations of First Nations peoples for self-determination and an understanding of political governance, socio-economic and community issues.

Ability to work cooperatively with the different band departments as well as outside agencies.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

Monday to Thursday 8:30am – 4:30pm, Friday 8:30am – 2:00pm.

Repetitive movements (ex. typing) sitting and/or standing for long periods of time.
Salary:
