Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food. Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards and presentation standards. Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers. Test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently. Monitor food quality while preparing food. Wash and disinfect kitchen area, tables, tools, knives and equipment. Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include but not limited to

  • Be required to work under supervision as directed in various areas of the kitchen, including banquets and events.
  • Prepare food of consistent quality following recipes
  • Return all prepped foods not used to designated areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables
  • Recognizes superior quality products, presentations, and flavor
  • Ensures compliance with all local, provincial, and federal food and safety regulations
  • Maintains procedures for food portion and waste control
  • Follows proper handling and right temperature of all food products
  • Ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation standards
  • Putting away stock and inventory, rotating stock
  • Food preparation, chopping vegetables and making salads
  • Empty garbage, mop kitchen floor, take down and clean vents weekly
  • Washes all the dishes that have been used from the lounge and Aurora
  • Perform kitchen cleaning whenever necessary
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested by supervisor
  • Take direction from management when called upon

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

The position requires the ability to communicate clearly, deal tactfully and work effectively with Casino Dene Kitchen Supervisor and kitchen staff.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent culinary skills, possesses the ability to perform all functions in the culinary operations
  • Knowledge of food handling and sanitation standards-Complete Food Safe Course
  • Experience with maintaining kitchen equipment
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills (verbal, listening, writing)
  • Knowledge of governmental and safety regulations

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work conditions and physical capabilities, fast paced environment, repetitive tasks, physically demanding, attention to detail, combination of standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, must be able to lift/carry up to 30lbs
