Smoky Lake Forest Nursery Ltd. is hiring a farm maintenance worker to join our maintenance team. You will need to inspect equipment and perform any basic repairs or preventative maintenance when required. To do well in this role you should have a broad mechanical aptitude, prior welding and fabrication experience, be highly skilled with various hand and power tools, and be able to read blueprints and repair manuals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Upkeep of farm equipment
- General greenhouse repair and maintenance including but not limited to irrigation and fertigation systems, furnaces, lighting, equipment, vehicles, etc.
- General welding and fabrication
- Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance
- Handling basic repairs and maintenance
- Operate forklifts, tractors, and any other on-site equipment
- Provide assistance in all areas of Nursery work
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate should have previous mechanical experience in agricultural or construction field. HVAC experience is an asset
- Knowledgeable with control systems for furnaces and misc. equipment
- Highly skilled with various hand and power tools for the use of fabrication
- Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts
- Experience and understanding of performing routine maintenance
- Eye for detail and troubleshooting skills
- Strong organizational and follow up skills
- Professional presentation and attitude
- Ability to maintain focus while working individually
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Strong time management skills
- Strong communication skills
