Job Purpose:


The Financial Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the efficient management of financial operations at John N.A. Janvier School. This role involves managing accounts, preparing financial statements, and handling various administrative tasks to ensure smooth financial processes. The Financial Clerk plays a key role in supporting the school’s financial integrity and contributing to its overall operational efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Keep financial records and establish, maintain, and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems

  • Maintain general ledgers and prepare financial statements

  • Calculate and prepare cheques for accounts payable

  • Calculate and prepare requisitions for payment

  • Perform related duties such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems, faxing, photocopying, answering the telephone and forwarding calls to appropriate recipients, using the intercom system, completing bank deposits, etc.

  • Assist with the preparation of time sheets

  • Must be able to multi-task

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:



  • Certification in a relevant program is a definite asset

  • Experience in an office setting is an asset

  • Team player with self-motivation to work independently

  • Computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace is an asset

  • Certificate in First Aid is an asset

  • Knowledge of Cold Lake First Nations culture, government, language, and community dynamics is an asset

  • Criminal Record Check Clearance required

  • Child Intervention Check Clearance required
