Position: Landscape/Garden Labourer for the Cold Lake Public Library Reading Garden, South Branch
Type of Employment: Summer Employment
Hours: 20 hours per week from approximately May 15-August 15, 2025 . $17.00 per hour
Location: South Branch of the Cold Lake Public Library
LANDSCAPE/GARDEN LABOURER
Job Description: Is responsible for the maintenance and development of the outdoor Reading Garden
Training / Education
· Must be 15 – 30 years of age.
· basic knowledge and understanding of gardening.
· A willingness to learn.
· Under the general supervision of the Administrative Assistant.

· Ability to follow through with close attention to detail.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Ability to work in an increasingly team-based organization.
· Ability to bend, lift and carry containers with plant and dirt material.
· Can work independently and manage multiple, concurrent tasks.
· Ability to learn new tasks and to adapt to changing work requirements and priorities.
· Proactive attitude toward responsibilities: ability to adapt, plan and execute work without direct supervision.
· Ability to communicate workflow and procedures to management and staff.
Duties: Including but not limited to:
1. Mow lawn and fencing edges every week, weather permitting
2. Maintain equipment including recharging batteries, cleaning and storage
3. Weed and maintain flowers, vegetables and all other annual and perennial plants.
4. Maintain composter throughout the year.
5. Liaison with Administrative Assistant for programing ideas, new tasks and special events.
6. Monitor tools and repair, maintain, and replace when required.
7. Communicating to staff and Administrative Assistant
8. Initiating suggestions or forwarding comments and suggestions, regarding innovations, improvements, and changes
9. Performing related duties as required and collaborate with staff on any current projects.
10. Integral part of Cold Lake Public Library Team by assisting with other projects and initiatives of The Cold Lake Public Library.
Individuals must be:
· Legally eligible to work in Canada
· Enrolled in a post-secondary institution or just recently graduated within the last 6 months
· Returning to academic studies in September
· Be in Alberta during their term
· Must have steel toe work boots
