Lakeland Catholic School Division is committed to delivering a high-quality, faith-based educational experience to students across the region. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager of Information Technology (IT) to join our team. Reporting directly to the Secretary Treasurer, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing and advancing the division's technological infrastructure. Serving the communities of Bonnyville, Cold Lake, Lac La Biche, and Waskatenau, the Manager of IT will ensure that the division's IT systems and services are aligned with the evolving needs of students, staff, and administration.

Position Overview

The Manager of IT will oversee the planning, implementation, and management of IT systems and services across the division. This includes maintaining hardware, servers, software, networks, and user support, as well as driving strategic initiatives related to technology integration in the educational environment. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for supporting educational goals through innovative technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the IT department, including supervising staff and providing guidance on day-to-day IT operations.
  • Oversee the maintenance, upgrading, and security of all IT systems, including servers, hardware, software, and network infrastructure.
  • Manage server environments including both on-premise and cloud-based servers, ensuring their availability, performance, and security.
  • Administer server backups, disaster recovery planning, and troubleshooting to ensure continuity of services.
  • Manage the division's technology budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions while maintaining quality and security standards.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, faculty, and staff to assess technology needs and develop solutions that support the division's educational goals.
  • Implement and manage cybersecurity protocols to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with privacy laws.
  • Provide technical support and training to staff and students as needed.
  • Monitor and report on IT performance metrics, making recommendations for improvements and addressing any issues promptly.
  • Stay current with industry trends and technological advancements, recommending new technologies that can enhance educational experiences.
  • Manage the help desk solution (Mojo) to streamline IT support requests and improve service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT management, preferably in an educational environment.
  • Proven experience in managing server infrastructure, network systems, and software applications.
  • Strong experience in the administration and maintenance of both on-premise and cloud servers (e.g. Windows Server, Linux, or cloud-based services).
  • Experience with server virtualization, backup solutions, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff at all levels.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in budgeting and managing IT expenditures.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and data privacy regulations.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Proficiency in French is considered an asset, though not required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
