Brown’s is seeking a dedicated On-site Safety Officer. The Safety Officer ensures a safe and compliant work environment by monitoring site activities, enforcing safety protocols and addressing potential hazards. This role involves conducting regular inspections, facilitating safety training, and ensuring adherence to occupational Health and Safety regulations.
Role Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in field HSE position (Oil & Gas Construction experience is an asset)
  • Certification as a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO)
  • Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent certification with relevant experience considered an asset and desirable.
  • Meet minimum mandatory safety ticket requirements: H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, and CSTS2020. (Additional tickets may be required.)
  • Proficient in English, both written and verbal communication is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict management skills with comfortability in collaborating with team members.
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Physically capable of performing demanding job tasks in various work conditions.
  • The candidate must have a valid Class 5 Drivers License and clean Drivers abstract.
  • Candidates must also pass a Drug & Alcohol Screening test & Physical Demand Analysis.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Promote and maintain awareness and compliance of Health and Safety in accordance with company and industry standards.
  • Develop and deliver safety meetings and training as required.
  • Toolbox -participation (supervisor to fill out toolbox and heads up meeting).
  • Monitor bump gas for Bump Station, assist with training and support of monitors and stations.
  • Maintain PPE inventories (to be completed weekly), distribute PPE required by the workers on site, and ensure proper usage of all PPE.
  • Ensure FLHA policies and procedures including training. Daily reviews of workers’ FLHA’s throughout the day (providing feedback and mentorship) and completion of end-of-day FLHA review.
  • Encourage and track the leading indicator program on site.
  • Encourage the supervision to conduct BBO’s, FLHA audits on the workers.
  • Lead and investigate any incidents that occur on site.
  • Documentation control; including scanning and organizing all documents (FLHA, Leading indicator, BBO’s, Audits etc. on the server)
  • Reporting; including in-house documentation (inspections, programs, reports) and client shift safety reports.
  • Inspect, hole punch, and maintain documentation on fire extinguishers (vehicles/ equipment/ offices)
  • Track and monitor company activities on-site to comply with the OHS-Code, Act and Regulations
