Job Purpose & Responsibilities:


The City of Cold Lake is seeking a qualified individual to fill the permanent, full-time position of Administrative Assistant in the Land Use, Planning, Development, and Regulatory Services department.


Reporting to the Principal Planner, the Administrative Assistant is primarily responsible for:


  • Providing telephone and front counter reception.
  • Processing financial transactions.
  • Serving as a front-line contact in providing information and resolving issues from the public, Managers and other stakeholders.
  • Dealing with questions and the administration of processes, policies, and bylaws.
  • Using computers to perform tasks such as creation of spreadsheets, composing correspondence, database management, creation of presentations, reports, and documents.
  • Review memos, submissions and reports, prepare agendas and arrange meetings for committees / departments.
  • Supporting department functions as required.

Qualifications & Competencies:


  • Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Administration or related field.
  • Minimum 2 yearsโ€™ experience in administrative role, preferably in Municipal or Government setting.
  • Strong customer service skills and a keen interest in assisting others.
  • Strong communication, time management, computer and organization skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Class 5 driverโ€™s license.

This position is within the scope of AUPE Local 118/016, and as such you will be required to adhere to articles contained within the Collective Agreement.


The salary for this position is $29.24/hr; hours of work are 35 hours per week.


This competition will remain open until October 28, 2024 at 8:00 a.m.
