S2526-05 Mental Health Therapists - Bonnyville / Cold Lake / Lac La Biche Area Schools

Northern Lights Public Schools is seeking three (3) Full-Time (1.0 FTE) Mental Health Therapists for the following locations; one (1) for Bonnyville are schools, one (1) for Cold Lake area school, and  one (1) for Lac La Biche area schools.  The  Mental Health Therapist will serve as part of the Student Support Services Team. The successful applicants will provide intensive short-term services for students who have complex mental health issues, provide students with individual and/or group counselling sessions and supports schools and families to access community based resources. 

Duties of the Mental Health Therapist will include:

  • Work within a designated region and/or across regions to provide support
  • Work in collaboration with the Divisional team and under the direction of a Principal
  • Work independently with students
  • Work with a particular student or a group of students within the class or in a specialized program
  • Provide programming assistance to students with social and/or behavioral needs
  • Travel to and work with multiple schools and school settings within a specified area

Preference will be given to applicants who have:

  • Masters Degree in counseling, social work (clinical specialization), psychology with clinical designation or a related field
  • Eligible for membership with the appropriate professional body in Alberta
  • Between 1-3 years experience in child, youth and family counseling is an asset
  • Experience in clinical assessment and therapy is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Valid drivers license
