Description

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead, coach, and mentor junior safety personnel and play an active role in employee development;
  • Provide a direct support role in training safety personnel through Total Safety’s competency training program;
  • Perform Safety Technician duties as required including, but not limited to, on-site safety watch, confined space entry watch, spark/fire watch, stand-by rescue and operate breathing air trailer;
  • Provide ongoing assistance to support Operations, as required;
  • Assist in job planning and coordination including, but not limited to, job scope, developing rescue plans, and coordinating personnel and equipment, as necessary;
  • Conduct regular field visits and site inspections;
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of field operations to anticipate and assess client needs;
  • Provide support to ensure that all on-site personnel work in a safe manner and comply with company and regulatory/legislative requirements for Occupational Health & Safety;
  • Champion Total Safety’s HSE Program and foster a safety culture with all employees;
  • Have a thorough knowledge, sound understanding and follow the company’s Health and Safety Program, and relevant Occupational Health and Safety legislation and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ field safety experience;
  • Must have previous experience working directly in a leadership capacity;
  • Must hold the following valid safety tickets: H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, Confined Space Entry/Monitor, Confined Space Rescue, Fall Protection, CSO, Fire Watch and a valid Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract;
  • Practical training and working experience in High Angle Rescue is preferred;
  • OH&S Certificate and/or NCSO designation is considered an asset;
  • Must be willing to work outdoors, work an irregular schedule (including nightshifts and weekends), and travel to various client sites;
  • Must have a strong ability to build rapport with employees, clients and contractors;
  • Must possess strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

 Note: The successful candidate must reside within commuting distance of Bonnyville, AB.
