The Healthy Babies Prenatal Nutrition Program requires an energetic individual for the part-time position of an Outreach worker for Lac La Biche, Buffalo Lake, and Kikino Metis Settlement. This position will be responsible for outreach to program participants to help to improve the health of vulnerable pregnant women and their babies, who face challenges that put their health at risk.Β  Through a community development approach, this program aims to reduce the incidence of unhealthy birth weights, improve the health of both infant and mother, and encourage breastfeeding.


We are seeking a highly motivated individual with experience in grassroots community development and outreach. Β 


This role offers part time, flexible hours (15.5 hours) within the core hours of Monday to Friday 8:30 to 4:30.

Qualifications:



  • Ability to relate to clients in a non-judgmental manner, and to respect client confidentiality

  • Background in Health Care or Social Work considered an asset

  • Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Excellent communication, relationship building, and organizational skills with the ability to work both with individuals, groups, and other community partners

  • An understanding of barriers facing clients, client-centered approach, diversity, and trauma informed practice are an asset

  • Knowledge of, and experience within the Lac La Biche community would be an asset

  • Standard First Aid/CPR, ASIST Certification, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training is considered an asset

  • Valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle, as some travel is required.

  • Clear Criminal record check (vulnerable sector) and Child Intervention Record Check
