Stepping Stones Crisis Society (SSCS) is seeking an Indigenous Program Coordinator to lead the Pathways: Healing and Prosperity program, which integrates traditional Indigenous healing strategies guided by the Seven Sacred Teachings with career exploration and development opportunities. This role will be responsible for program development, facilitation, and internal Indigenous cultural strengthening within SSCS.

The Indigenous Program Coordinator will work closely with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community partners to ensure a culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and empowering program for Indigenous women, Indigenous women, girls (MMIWG) and Two Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex (2SLGBTQI+) people.

Stepping Stones Crisis Society is dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by domestic violence and crisis situations. Based in Cold Lake, Alberta, our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where those in need can find refuge, support, and resources to rebuild their lives. They offer a range of services, including emergency shelter, counselling, education, and advocacy, all aimed at empowering our clients to overcome their challenges and achieve long-term stability and safety.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Diploma or Degree in a related field such as Indigenous Studies, Social Work, Education, Community Development, Counselling, or Cultural Studies; OR
  • Equivalent combination of education, lived experience, and work experience in Indigenous community work, facilitation, or program coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and healing practices, particularly the Seven Sacred Teachings.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and supporting survivors of violence or individuals facing systemic barriers.
  • Strong facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences in a respectful and inclusive manner.
  • Experience in program coordination, community engagement, or education.
  • Experience working with and ability to develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers and Indigenous Organizations.
