The Municipal District of Bonnyville No. 87 invites applications for a full-time Water & Sewer Operator. The Water & Sewer Operator is responsible for assisting with the maintenance, repair and operation of the water and sewer systems within the municipality.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in inspection and testing of valves, pumps, engines, electric motors and performing routine maintenance work.
- Assist in preparing a variety of reports, maintaining logbooks, and recording meter readings.
- Monitor and operate supervisory control and data acquisitions (SCADA) software and industry hardware.
- Perform flushing and cleaning of water and sewer lines.
- Assist in the regular collection of water samples to perform routine laboratory tests and analyses.
- Maintain and perform minor repairs on assigned equipment.
- Perform weekend and general holiday on-call duties as required.
- Perform other related duties within the scope of the position as required.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent experience to meet the requirements of the duties and responsibilities.
- Minimum two (2) years’ relevant experience.
- Hold a Confined Space Certificate.
- Completion of the Alberta Environment Certification Program (Level 1 of the following: Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection, Wastewater Treatment, Small Systems Operation) or equivalent.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must provide a Criminal Record Check with satisfactory results.
- Being well versed in Microsoft Office Suite will be considered an asset.
- A valid Class 3 Driver’s License in good standing will be considered an asset.
